I'm down around 35%.

I originally went for this gamble thinking I could raise a house deposit in a few months. It's clearly not worked out as intended.

I've decided to move to a cheaper area now and Nationwide Building Society will allow me to transfer my existing mortgage. This will mean I can raise the required mortgage deposit with this years earnings and I won't need to sell the family silver or any other investment. It also means I can "chill the F out" now and let these shares run for up to 10 years. So that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to sit back and let the gold bull run.

I will update this thread every so often with developments and updates, but I won't be watching the shares every day anymore.

The possible problem I see in your strategy is that I'm not sure how spreadbetting companies will hold up over the next 10 years. I try to steer away from anything to do with derivatives & leverage unless for very short term gain. Not sure I would trust them to perform as expected as this crisis plays out.

I guess it depends who is on the other side of the bet, which bankrupt bank, wether they will be able to pay out in the future.

You've got a point...

I'll have to have another think about this...

... the thing is, TD Direct don't necessarily hold any shares either, they could be holding a piece of paper (another banks liability) on my behalf.

thinking...

I don't think that is the case, I think the shares are held with the share registry.

News.

GDX.V has joined the 80% squared club (dropped 80% since I bought it)

EOM.T is up 150% over the last 5 days. These shares can turn round incredibly quickly!

I'm approx 40% down now.

80% squared I make that it is worth 0.9% of its high :!:

It's 4% (or less) of the high.

I should call it the "minus 80% squared club". 0.2 times 0.2 equals 0.04

Jaguar mining was up 32% today. Goldex was up 50% so none of my shares are in the minus 80% club anymore :-)

 I should learn to use my own head rather than relying on my bad calculator skills.

80% off 100 = 20
80% off 20 = 4

^ cheers for the video px, I've been struggling to make time. Mega busy with work and moving house and got baby on way.

I don't think anything major has happened with these shares, no take overs, no belly-ups and certainly no sales. I'm holding these until I make a decent profit or lose every penny.

The all-cash take over of Hana mining announced before Christmas has gone through but the payment has not arrived yet. I think I've made around 5% on this, I will report when I know.

I'm approx 50% DOWN at this point. IG index roll over was yesterday

I think my 80% Club has reached a permanently low plateaux.

These shares haven't moved much in the last couple of days which is a little surprising given the action out there.

Hopefully, the weak hands are long gone and there's only one way to go now - side ways;... until the seasonal winds are back on my side.

I'm around 67% down now! Thankfully I'm over the pain and I can laugh at my self.

Surprisingly, only one share has gone belly up in my first year. And these shares are not doing too badly when compared to the good quality producing miners. Everything in this sector has been toileted. Dividend payers like Barrick Gold have a 4-5% yield!

I'm going to keep holding but I expect a lot of these companies will issue shares like crazy in any recovery.

I'll post a full list of shares and closed positions this weekend.

My 80% club is bobbing along the bottom.

Some of my better quality shares are recovering a bit but I'm not feeling too hopeful at this time of year.

I'll just keep holding and hopefully I'll be millionaire by this time next year :-)

I'll need another move like that just to break even.

Looks interesting tho, lots of volume this morning. I wonder what's going on...

EDIT... There doesn't seem to be any major news. I'm going to set a sell order for one of my two purchases.

EDIT2... Stupid IG Index won't let me set a sell order @ +100% of the current price. Problem is, this share can and does move by +100% in one day. If a big move happens IG Index stop allowing web trading. This happened last time this share rocketed and I wasn't able to get out before it plummeted again.

This is worth a read Ziknik, Rick Rule talking about the importance of being very selective when buying juniors.

He is talking about 500+ juniors going bust! - http://news.goldseek.com/GoldSeek/1369939809.php

"Laundry List" - That's me alright. All I can do now is weed out the worst ones as he suggests. But, I'm going to do my weeding over time, I'll be taking a huge loss if I do it now.

There are much better shares out there at crazy low prices. example, Newmont P/E = 10. 10! I'm saving powder and plan to go on a big spending spree in August.

I've sold one of my two Solgold purchases today. I've been trying to offload it for a year or so and today was my first chance to do so without taking s loss.
