Hinde Capital ran an article about the 90% club and why gold production is going to zero. Below is their list of stocks in the 90% club, I am not recommending these as a buy many will probably join the 100% club.

I'm still holding on to the shares I bought in the 80% club.

I'm 88.7% down.

I'll keep holding and see what happens over the next few years.

Hi Ziknik

My portfolio is down around 75% from it high! but is still showing around 120% gain from purchase in 2009. I'm just about to double my initial investment and buy a load more.

You are doing much better than me. I bought some pm shares in 2008 and those are around 10% down now.

I've also bought loads of shares over the years that I thought were good quality producers and those shares are around 45% down. I don't think I've mentioned my better quality shares in this thread, I have posted them in another thread.

I haven't bought any PM shares in the last 12 months as I've been a bit short of money and time but I might buy some funds now as I have some cash to invest and not much time. Black rock gold and general and cf ruffer.

I guess I was lucky and removed 120% of my original investment at near the peak, to buy my new Hasselblad H4D camera.

Hi Ziknik,

Good to see you again

The mining shares have had a great year so far and it is only just beginning in my opinion. My top ones have been First Majestic and Endeavour Mining.

I'm going to update this thread over the next few weeks.

I haven't sold any of the shares. I held everything through the low. Although some shares went bust and others got force-sold because they became ISA-non-compliant.

Good I will be interested to see how your 90% club has performed.

Don't know anything about Minco and have lost a load on Pinetree. Now that they are under new management it will be interesting to see what transpires. I just recently did the rights issue on Pinetree and doubled my holding. Was already down something like 98% so adding a tiny bit more seemed the right thing to do. Not something I give much thought to at all really, I always looked at Pinetree as a big gamble.

The mid tier & producing juniors producing miners has been my best buys and what I try to concentrate on. Endeavour Mining, Silvercrest (which got bought out by First Majestic). I am excited about the prospects for Pretium now that their Brucejack mine is in development.

Have also been building substantial positions in Royalty companies, with my main ones being Silver Wheaton & Sandstorm Gold. The offer more stability and diversity and their business models offer inflation protection, which I think is on it's way.

Glad that I stuck to producing juniors, mid tier and royalty companies with 90% of my portfolio. My star performers has been Endeavour Mining and Silvercrest (which got bought out buy First Majestic), but I have been building positions in Sandstorm for the longterm and adding to Silver Wheaton which I first bought at $4.20 in 2009.

The coming bull cycle will see a lot of the juniors that have survived go to crazy valuations again. Have you taken a look at Brazil Resources (BRI) yet? I'm not sure what to make of them, they have a lot of low grade gold in the ground but that's about it and are getting massively hyped.

You probably only need one to come good in the final stage to make up all your loses. That's the thing with the exploring juniors when they hit big they can go to crazy valuations especially in the final stage of a gold bull.

Another that is peaking my interest currently is Keith Neumeyer's First Mining Finance, haven't bought any yet but think I may adjust things and buy some.

I guess that the exploring juniors that are still alive after this crazy bear have a whole load of value in the ground. Be interesting to do some analysis and workout what their value is per ounce in the ground for your holdings that are still alive. I'm expecting some of the miners you own value is <$10 per Oz in the ground. As this gold bull goes into the final stage they will get bought out

It seems like a great idea these mineral banks (First Mining, Brazil Resources), they have raised cheap finance, bought properties and sold shares to cheap ounces in the ground. Building massive drilled resources at crazy low prices right in the depths of a brutal bear.
