landmark post club - post your 100/1000/5000 posts here!

Postby Does Commute Abit » Fri Apr 08, 2011 12:53 pm

I've just noticed I'm now a centurion on 24knews, and it has been a pleasure, having learned loads and loads.....

How about people post their 100/500/1000/5000/10000 th posts on here - and make a few short comments about the site as they do.

I particularly like the live prices toolbar and the minichat feature, which encourages informal banter and leads to useful spin-off debates. The mining equity section is excellent, and Pixel8r's calls of recent have been top notch. The site is well run and moderated, free from 'green lizard' style nonsense and increasingly fun.

On the critical side, I'd welcome a bit more bear content to threads, just to keep a balance (although any bear is a battered bear of recent)

I got a 100 the other day too and, just to say, although I hardly post anything nowadays, I read here all the time... Much appreciation for and thanks to those that add their input and effort.

I meant to do a post on this thread for my 5000th post but have just realised I have missed it by 78 posts.

I hope you are all enjoying the site, I am very happy with the way it is working now and can safely say that it is now self sustaining via the generous donations I have had and the advert revenue.

All we need now is for some of you to attempt to catch me on the number of posts. ;)

I have just been reminded by H that I should post that this is my 1,006th post!!

I was supposed to post my 1000th one in here but forgot with all the action in the silver paper market!

Thanks for a great site Pix - may we all prosper and hopefully meet up one day and have a cold beer or two!

When I became a Centurion this thread was not yet established.

So as this is my 200th post I will put it here.

I just want to say that I enjoy this site - I am surprised that there are so few members when there is so much quality content here, but I guess that is because everybody has come here from HPC and GEI.
The brightest from HPC moved to GEI when they realized that housing was just a small pieze of the Big Puzzle.
And the brightest from GEI moved here when they realized what was really going on, and the only historical way to protect oneself was trough Precious metals.
(or they moved here because GEI regularly ban their best posters :D )

It is nice to see Grumpy Old Man here - or should I say "Nice Young Fella"? - I have no idea why You got banned from GEI, but then again - one doesn't really need a reason to get banned from GEI.
I do however notice that You have past your 100 post here, and want to remind you of this thread that Diet Cola started.
Not that it is any of my business, but I am seriously obsessed with round numbers and just want to point this out.

I guess I have been known as a top caller lately, and such people are rightfully never popular.
There is always someone calling a top in Precious Metals - and they are always wrong.
I suffer from a mental disorder however - that I don't give a sh*t about what everybody else thinks, and I usually do the opposite of everybody else.

This has served me remarkebly well regarding investments - but has really been a drag with regards to social gatherings :D

I am a believer in Austrian Economics - as it is just the only theory that makes sense.
As most people here have noticed, bonuses have gotten completely out of control in the financial sector.
According to Marc Faber, the employees of New York’s leading financial houses made more money in 2006 than the entire population of Vietnam.
Considering that Vietnam is not among the richest countries in the World - but still has a population of 84 million people, it does seem a bit out of proportion.
As Churchill would have said:
“Never has so few, done so little, and made so much doing it”.

The real threat to the Western middle class is not a small band of muslim fanatics.
The saboteurs are the financiers and bank chiefs.

QE is not going to solve anything - it will just make everything worse (those damned Keynesian's) - that's why I am a Precious Metals Guy.

I do believe that QE influences the markets though (this is quite obvious).
This is the main reason that I believe that the end of QE is going to present us with a unique buying opportunity this summer.

So I might be a top caller - but that is only short term, long term we are going to the Moon.
Short term though - BE CAREFULL WITH LEVERAGE.

Thanks to everyone for making this a great site - and may we all Prosper through this quite predictable but somehow still unforeseen chaos.

Regards Hooloovoo

@hooloovoo

i am glad you're here H

it's good to have alternate opinion here - it is important to constantly question your beliefs and if i read someones opinion that differs from mine, it will ultimately lead me to question my assertions again - this is healthy

i felt a bit of a jonah when i went short silver between $45-49, and like you i am a major physicall silver bull

short term / medium term / long term

different timeframes that can make all the difference in an opinion

I agree - i got beaten up by the silver 'bank holiday' smash. Having a different view point is healthy.

I have been spending many, many days re-learning some TA. I have gone back to the drawing board so to speak and now will only post charts that have both upward and downward sloping median lines. I went all the way back to the Action Reaction course notes! Actually I think the smash taught me something and that is to always be prepared for the unexpected.

As such please join me in the 'Dollar is done here be careful' thread where I am going to try and predict (you'd think I'd stop by now :| ) and go through the EURUSD options.

Ha ha @TA's rank progress statement :

"progress to next rank is 1.1%"

That's not a very motivating aim.

He is a 'Star Poster' now though, so next rank is at 2000 posts I think.

Just noticed that I have now gone past 7000 posts. :)

There should be gold member recognition when :

number of posts > dollars per ounce of gold

Of course, this is a target that's going to go up and up :) forcing members to keep posting :)

You have just given me an idea for changing the name of the top ranks.

How about "Star poster" becomes "Silver Star Poster" and "Prestige Poster" becomes "Gold Star Poster"?

Here's a thread where I was asking about suggestions for the names and levels - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13

I am far from impressed Pix.
Not content with using your admin privileges to elevate the bling level on your own rating ('Rhodium so what' to 'Rhodium See Me' ), you then have the temerity to muscle in on my No1 post quality status! :violence-hammer: :naughty:
